Start with clean, dry, completely bare skin—no lotions, oils or skincare. A little goes a long way, so apply in small amounts and blend evenly from neck to toes with your tanning mitt. Use whatever’s left on hands and feet.

The longer The Quickie stays, the deeper it gets. Leave on for 30 minutes to 8 hours, depending on how serious you want this to become.

How fast does it develop, and how do I control the depth?
Depth depends on how long you leave it on before rinsing: 30 min–1 hr for light, 2–3 hrs for medium, 4–5 hrs for dark, 6–8 hrs for extra dark. After you rinse, color continues to develop for another 8–12 hours
Will it look orange or streaky?
Nope — this is a streak-free zone. Vegetable-derived DHA + erythrulose give a natural tone. If you see unevenness before you rinse, don't worry, it may just be the bronzers spreading, it evens out post rinse. For the smoothest result: apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin, and blend in sections with a mitt.
How do I apply it?
Apply to clean, dry skin in small amounts using a tanning mitt. Blend from the neck down, using only the leftover gel on hands and feet. Rinse after 1–8 hours depending on how deep you want to go.
How do I prep my skin?
Start with clean, dry skin. Exfoliate a few hours before or the day before. Avoid heavy lotions, oils, deodorant, perfume, and anything with mineral oils right before applying.
Is it good for sensitive or acne-prone skin?
Yes. The gel formula is non-comedogenic and gentler for acne-prone and sensitive skin. It's also packed with skincare actives — niacinamide, lactic acid, squalane, and hyaluronic acid. Patch test before first use.
How long does it last, and how many uses per tube?
The tan lasts 5–10 days depending on prep and aftercare. One tube gives about 5 full-body applications — more if you're only tanning legs, arms, or your chest.
How do I remove the tan?
It fades gradually. To speed it up, gently exfoliate in the shower with a mitt or scrub on drier areas.

I love the formula of this compared to a foam! Doesn’t leave your sheets or body smelling like self tanner either. The mitt is also amazing and works the product in super quick and leaves the self tanner free of any streaks. Definitely recommend
As a fair skinned girl I have used my fair share of tanners. Foam, cream, air sprayer, the whole gamut of things. I will say this gel is the easiest to blend and left the most flawless result. The results are not crazy dramatic but very natural looking. The depth of color depends how long it is left on but I think it takes longer than the instructions indicate. I left the tanner on for about 5 hours for this result. I will leave it on just a little longer next time and maybe overnight. The gel looks intimidating at first but I was so pleasantly surprised how well it blended and absorbed into the skin. I used a mitt and highly recommend using one. The tanner didn’t leave my skin feeling dried out like so many do. There was a slight tackiness at first but it dried well. With other tanners I have to powder my legs to dry it a tolerate it. No powder needed here. The gel did not stain my clothes at all. There is a light scent when applied but I did get the tanner smell after a couple hours. If you are thinking about it, give it a try!
This is my first time using a gel self tanner. So there was a bit of a learning curve. But I’m the type who smells like Chinese food after self tanners but I’m PALE. So I’ve been on a journey to find one that works for me. My top two before trying this were: Bondi sands (light) and loving tan (2hr light). I actually love that this formula is considered an express tan, and you can have it on for as little as 30 minutes for a little glow. I’ve attached two photos: 1- before, left leg, both legs, after shower and 24 hrs 2- before and after 24 hrs. I only had this on for about 45 mins. I had a bit of a challenge with seeing where I had put the tanner since there wasn’t really a color guide. But I just trusted in a thorough rub down. After applying, the gel was very dry to touch. I didn’t feel like there was really anything on my skin, and there was no transfer. The gel during application scent was pleasant, and barely noticeable. It felt more like a mature earthy perfume, than a “tropical” scent like most self tanner have. After rinsing, I got a few whiffs of classic self tanner while it was developing. But overnight it felt like there’s virtually no scent at all. Overall, I feel there is a noticeable difference between the top and bottom photo of my legs, even with under an hour. I would like to try it again soon with a longer wait time to see it a bit darker, but I was pressed for time to be able to shower before going to bed.
I was pleasantly surprised by this self-tanner! Since it’s a gel, it goes on a little thicker than a lotion, but I actually liked that because it made it easy to see exactly where I had applied it. It rubbed in evenly, and I left it on overnight for the best results. The color developed into a nice, natural-looking tan without turning orange, and I didn’t notice any streaking. The scent was mild when first applied, although after it developed it did have the typical self-tanner smell. The good news is that it didn’t seem to stain my sheets or clothing. Overall, I’m happy with the results and would use it again if you’re looking for a buildable, natural-looking sunless tan. The before and after photos show the subtle color it developed after one application.
Was a Tarte Brazilliance loyalist for years now. Well just when you don't think it will go away, it does and you're left trying to find another replacement. This is it!!!!! Go and buy this tanner you will NOT be disappointed. It's amazing and natural!!!!!
I'm pale enough that self tanner is usually a gamble for me, but this one came out brown instead of that orange tint cheaper formulas leave behind. The gel texture is a big part of why. It spreads easier than the foams I've used and doesn't dry down instantly, so you have a second to even things out. Two heads up though. Use a mitt, seriously. This develops fast and I learned the hard way that bare hands means stained palms. And you do have to rinse it off, so factor in the wait time before you go anywhere. Neither ruins it for me. My skin actually felt hydrated after instead of tight and chalky, and the scent is minimal compared to most tanners. It's expensive but it works better than the drugstore stuff I've tried.
It would have been nice if this self tanner came with some sort of applicator- gloves, brush, anything. For $45 it's the least they could have done since you have to use your hands to apply it and I would absolutely not recommend using bare hands for this. The tanner went on nicely. It wasn't too thin that it dripped around or ran down my leg. One thing i don't like aboht this is you have to wash it off. Which meant I needed to make sure I didn't leave the house while I waited, which at a minimum time is 30 min. Overall I'm pleased. Its a nice soft tan.
I gave this five stars because it is described as a cleaner version of the sunless tanner. Since my teenagers love to self tan, I’m always looking for something that’s safer to put on their skin. While I am not much of a self tanner, I did test this out to see how it worked. It’s a bit tough to apply because it goes on completely clear. It’s like putting on a clear sunscreen, where you hope you got all the spots, but you can’t really tell. I noticed my hands turned a dark color immediately after using, but I was able to wash it away pretty quickly. Next time I will use a mitt. It is customizable. I did a light layer in my skin. Turned a very light brown shade after a few hours. I did not wash it off. I can see how layering or applying more product will get a much deeper tan color. It does seem to last and slowly fades away. Not a ton in the tube, but probably enough for a few self tanning sessions.
Love this stuff - most natural color!
This is a surprise. It's black. It goes on black. Any bits that have dried on the neck of the tube look like pepper flakes on your skin. It's a bit startling. Other than the initial shock, this is a superior product. The blackness of the lotion allows you to see right where you've put it minimizing the dreaded streaks that keep us from trying self tanners in the first place. I was initially concerned at the instructions of timing the effect and getting it off the skin at the right time. How many showers would I need in one morning? I needn't have worried. With one smooth coat, I got one shade deeper and it didn't change after that. I was happy with that. I wanted to "fill in" my upper thighs above my shorts line. This worked well for that. The reasons we stay away from self tanners are streaks, oranginess, dark palms, strong smell. This product has none of those -- provided you scrub your hands well. You might want to keep some salt, a sugar scrub, or gritty hand soap on hand for that. It reminded me of a great pandemic video on hand washing. A person wore gloves and poured ink on then washed. You could see exactly how superficial our handwashing tends to be. Pretend you spilled ink on your hands. The lotion is that easy to see so you know when you're clean.
I really like this self tanner! The gel is easy to apply and blends out nicely without feeling super sticky. I like that I can control how dark I want the tan to be, and it gives me a nice natural-looking color instead of being overly orange. It’s also pretty easy to work into my routine. Overall, I’m really happy with it and would definitely use it again.
This self-tanning gel is a nice option when I want a little color but don’t want to commit to an all-night tanning product. It applies smoothly with a mitt and dries down much faster than mousse formulas I’ve used. The useful part is being able to control the depth by choosing when to rinse, from a lighter glow to a deeper tan. I still take extra time around my hands, knees, and ankles, but the final color looks even and much less orange than I expected.
This self tanner is the best! My skin is glowing. Application was easy, the formula is smooth and everything looks so even. One of the best I’ve tried- will definitely be purchasing again!!
I got this because I like the idea of an express self tanner that can be rinsed off depending on how deep you want the color. The ingredient list has some nice skincare ingredients including niacinamide, squalane, hyaluronic acid, glycerin and shea butter. It also uses both DHA and erythrulose for the tanning ingredients. I do have sensitive skin and some self tanners have made the backs of my knees and the crooks of my arms itch. This one does contain fragrance along with limonene, linalool, geraniol and citronellol, so I’m being cautious with it and patch testing before using it over a larger area. So far using on small areas on my feet to even out sandal lines I’m ok. Overall, the formula looks well thought out, but I would recommend anyone with fragrance sensitivities check the ingredient list first.
I tested this over several applications during the last week of July, and I was impressed by how beginner-friendly it is. The gel texture spreads evenly without feeling sticky, and it gave me enough time to blend before it started drying down. I didn't notice any streaking or patchiness, even around my knees and elbows with a little extra moisturizer beforehand. The color developed into a natural golden tan rather than anything overly orange, and I liked that I could build the depth with another application instead of getting too dark all at once. There's still a faint self-tanner scent after a few hours, but it's much less noticeable than many others I've tried. Overall, it's a solid option if you want a believable glow that's easy to maintain and doesn't require a complicated routine.
This is a super high quality tanning gel, I do not use self tanner often but this was easily the cleanest and smoothest application yet. I did not have any trouble with streakiness nor did I struggle to get a smooth coat. I didn't need to use much of the product to cover my stomach and legs, I was just trying to even my tan out but I was surprised by how far a little bit of product went. I did two layers for an hour and I got a very nice medium light shade that worked well with my natural tan, I honestly could have done more layers/let it sit longer but I didn't want to overdo it. Overall super easy to apply, super smooth, beginner friendly, and a gorgeous natural tan color.
I applied this at night and slept in it, and I definitely woke up more tan. The color developed evenly and looked natural - subtle but still very noticeable on me since I’m very pale. It doesn’t have that strong self‑tanner smell, and most importantly, there was no sticky or greasy feeling at all. It didn’t transfer onto my sheets or clothes, which is a huge plus. I have very sensitive skin, and it didn’t cause any irritation. No streaks, no weird patches - just an even, smooth tan by morning. Overall, it’s comfortable to wear, mess‑free, and gives a really nice result.

The thing that always scares me about self-tanners, as most of us who have been around for more than two or three decades know, is that “no orange” and “no streaks” are claims I take with a grain of salt. Ha! And, yet...I find that THIS product has moved us light years ahead in advances! Here's the bottom line up front: No orange, no streaks, easy application (but you REALLY need to wear gloves or get a mitt), and the scent is earthy, but tolerable. It did NOT transfer to my clothes. A total win because it works! Other things I liked about this are that it contains skincare! It has niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, lactic acid, and squalane. Niacinamide helps support the skin barrier and improve the overall appearance. Hyaluronic acid helps with moisture, squalane helps soften, and lactic acid provides gentle exfoliation. That combination makes a lot of sense in a self-tanner because dry, rough skin is basically the enemy of an even tan. I made sure to exfoliate with a sugar scrub prior to application, and I really think that helped with absorption and color depth. This is a lightweight gel, and it spreads very easily. I like that because thick tanning creams can sometimes feel like you are racing against the clock trying to blend everything before one area starts drying. This gives you enough slip to spread it evenly, but it absorbs pretty quickly and doesn't leave me feeling coated in product. I also really like being able to control the depth of the color. Around 30 minutes to an hour is supposed to give a light glow, a few hours gives you more of a medium tan, and leaving it longer develops a deeper bronze. For my first use, I did NOT jump straight into the deepest option because I've learned that lesson before! I would much rather start light and build than spend three days trying to exfoliate myself back to my natural color. The color itself is really pretty. It's a natural golden tone, not orange. The fact that it is buildable is nice because unless you take a vacay in the winter, you're going to look pretty silly being light one day and super dark the next. The product dried down nicely and isn't tacky or sticky. As far as value, the results justify the price. You don't need to use a huge amount for each application. For me, I would rather spend a little more on a product that spreads evenly and gives me a color I actually like than save a few dollars and end up exfoliating orange ankles for the next week. Overall, The Quickie has been really nice. Definitely a keeper.
They weren't kidding about using an applicator mitt! I wanted to test this but since it's mid summer and in spite of daily sunscreen, my olive skin already has a pretty good tan going so I tested it on my inner forearm. I don't have a tanning mitt but I've used self tanner many times before without one so I didn't think it would be a big deal. My fault, my middle finger was stained for 2 days. This stuff is instant, it works incredibly fast. Need a tan by tonight? You don't need to spend days or weeks building your color. Just slap this on, leave it a few hours and you'll have a deep natural looking glowing tan in time for your event. I intend to use it before a winter vacation (but will pick up a tanning mitt before I do!). I washed it off after a couple of hours and was worried about staining my clothes before I rinsed it but I was wearing a white tank top and I had no issues with rub off or staining. I like that this is a gel, it makes it easier to apply but getting a nice even tan with it may be a little difficult because it does work so fast. I do love that my skin turned brown instead of orange like what happens with some of the lower end self tanners and my little test spot wasn't streaky at all. It did wash away after a couple of showers but with regular use I feel this will develop into a deep natural looking tan that would last with routine maintenance. I detected only a slight scent, not unpleasant and far better than most self tanners. Clean ingredients, absorbs quickly, doesn't stain your clothes and leaves skin feeling soft and nourished instead of sticky and tight. This is good stuff that works super fast, just WEAR A MITT, haha! Pricey, but worth it...drugstore self tanning products just don't measure up. Please excuse my arm scrapes and bruises, I own a farm and if you own or live or work on a farm, you'll totally understand.

Best self tanner I’ve tried in the past 2 years. No orange residue. Love the color result. Only issue is a wish there was more product, as I can see this going very quickly this summer.
