This face self-tanner has been a really nice product to use. The formula is lightweight and easy to apply and I like that it doesn't have the typical self-tanner smell that many similar products do. It feels comfortable on my skin and doesn't leave behind a heavy or greasy feeling. I like how natural the color looks. When I wake up in the morning, I notice a nice, subtle glow that helps my complexion look healthier and more even. The light shade works well for adding color without looking overly dark or unnatural. I also haven't experienced any irritation, redness, or sensitivity while using it, which is always important when applying products to my face. The serum absorbs nicely and fits easily into my nighttime skincare routine. My biggest complaint is the packaging. It feels a bit inexpensive and when it arrived, it was partially open. At first, I was concerned that the product may have leaked out because the container felt so light. Fortunately, there was still plenty of product inside and I haven't had any issues with the formula itself.

the photos actually show exactly why i like it. the colour develops into a soft golden warmth rather than that peculiar orange brown that announces you have recently interacted with DHA. one application is genuinely subtle. enough that i look healthier and faintly more sun kissed, not enough that anybody should be asking where i’ve been.
nowhere. i’ve been moisturising.
the gel itself feels much more like skincare than traditional fake tan. it spreads easily, gives me enough time to get everything even, and i haven’t had streaking or those darker little patches that like to gather around every remotely dry area and expose your crimes.
more importantly for my victorian heir skin, no irritation.
that matters because my face is not where i conduct experiments with reckless optimism. i can apply this as part of my evening skincare without feeling like i’ve replaced the entire routine with tanning product.

This actually works really well. The color is subtle, but it looks very natural and gives my skin a nice sun-kissed glow rather than an obvious self-tan look. I used it three nights in a row and by then I could easily see a difference. I especially like that the color develops gradually so you have more control over how dark you want to go, and it doesn't have that orange look that some self-tanners can give you.
It also doesn't have a strong scent, which is a big plus for something I'm putting on my face overnight, and I haven't noticed it staining anything.
My biggest issue is the packaging. Another reviewer mentioned that the bottle didn't seem full and I noticed the same thing. I tried to open it to see inside but couldn't because of the way the bottle is constructed. Based on shaking it and how it feels, mine seems approximately half full or so. I can't confirm exactly how much product is actually inside, but for a $40 product that is definitely worth mentioning.
The pump also needs some work. Sometimes it dispenses product normally and other times I press it and get nothing, so I have to keep pumping to get enough out.
Despite the packaging issues, I'm very impressed with the actual product. If you want a slower, progressive tan that looks natural rather than orange, this does a great job.

You don’t need to use a lot for this to add some color by morning. First I showered and thoroughly washed my face and then applied my regular nighttime Vitamin C serum and let that absorb in. Then I applied the tanning gel cream from the convenient pump, all over my face, jawline and neck. It applied easily and absorbed quickly and smells so good, reminds me of creamsicles, orange and vanilla, and I then washed my hands well, and went to bed.
In the morning I washed my face and did my normal moisturizing ritual and my face looked so good! So layering with my other light serums didn't affect it at all. While this didn’t instantly color or "dye" my skin, thankfully, it did give me a nice light healthy suntanned tint without streaking or looking orange, yay!! So it works perfectly on me, even with my uneven olive skin tone. It really makes my aging face look much healthier and not so blotchy and it's good for my skin.. I love it!!

I recently started taking a medication that requires me to be much more careful about sun exposure, so getting some color on my face the old-fashioned way isn't a particularly good option for me anymore. That's what made me interested in trying this.
One of my first questions was whether this was essentially a cosmetic dye that makes you look darker temporarily, or whether it actually produces a sunless tan.
I'm not a scientist, so I did a little research into what's actually in it. Here's what I found.
The primary tanning ingredient is DHA, along with erythrulose. DHA isn't simply a temporary bronzing dye. It reacts with the outermost layer of your skin to produce the darker color associated with a sunless tan. So while this isn't a suntan produced by UV exposure and melanin, the color actually develops on your skin rather than simply being painted on and washing away the next morning.
There's also quite a bit of recognizable skincare in the formula, including hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, squalane and lactic acid. I like the idea that something I'm leaving on my face overnight is formulated as a skincare product in addition to being a self-tanner.
As far as the results go, my experience is pretty much in line with what others have reported. After one application, my face was a little darker the next morning — I'd call it maybe one shade. It wasn't dramatic, and that's actually what I wanted. The result looked natural rather than like I'd obviously used a self-tanning product.
At $39.99, this certainly isn't inexpensive, particularly for the amount you receive. But this is specifically formulated for the face, only requires a few pumps per application, and I'm pleased with the result.
One important point: this does not provide sun protection. A DHA tan gives you color without UV exposure, but it isn't a substitute for sunscreen.

I was hoping for a more hydrating formula. Especially when it states it hydrates overnight, and contains hyaluronic acid as well as squalane. It certainly won’t “wow you overnight” or, at least in my case it didn’t. After the 2nd use, I could finally see a shade darker in my skin tone. After the 3rd use, I finally saw more of a difference in my skin hydration level. This is one of those products, you’ll have to have patience with and, it will be different for everyone.
The packaging is cute and easy to work with. The formula is easy to spread but, depending on how dry your skin is, you may require a couple more pumps than the directions explain. Nonetheless, a nice product for results that are realistic, not orange and in time result in a beautiful tone. I’m happy with it, especially for something that helps keep me away from the sun with less fine lines and dark spots in the end.

The self tanner is so great, and gives you a really nice glow that you can build on night after night depending on the depth of color that you want. This comes out more like a cream rather than a gel, but I prefer that so that you can more easily see how it blends into your skin. I used 2-3 pumps as instructed for my entire face, and that was plenty since I have a fairly small face. The color gave me a nice soft glow and it's really natural looking, no orangey color at all. I would definitely buy this again and it's a great value for the quality! I'm going to buy some self tanner for the body from this brand because I like the face tanner so much.
I really love this tanner from MSK Labs. It gives you a subtle tan over time. The more you use it, the less subtle it is. I find a three days a week program just gives me a nice subtle healthy bronze. I was concerned that it would stain my pillows but it doesn’t. Just give it 15 minutes or so to fully absorb. I wash, apply toner, and then use two pumps of this stuff around my face and neck. You wake up the next morning with just a touch of glow. Fantastic! It isn’t inexpensive but it is reasonably priced for what you are getting. Love it! Will be ordering more in the winter.
I've been enjoying this brand and look forward to using their tanning products before my Hawaii vacation this winter. I wanted to test this but since it's mid summer and in spite of daily sunscreen, my olive skin already has a pretty good tan going so I did a little patch on my inner forearm. Unlike their "Quickie" tanner, you won't need a mitt with this, it's a little more gradual so as long as you wash your hands after applying you won't have stained fingers. It still works impressively well, it's just more of a slow burn typical tanner that builds gradually. I washed it off in the morning and was worried about staining my pajamas before I rinsed it but I had no issues with rub off or staining. I like that this is a gel, it makes it easier to apply. I do love that my skin turned brown instead of orange like what happens with some of the lower end self tanners and my little test spot wasn't streaky at all. It did wash away after a couple of showers but with regular use I feel this will develop into a deep natural looking tan that would last with routine maintenance. I detected only a slight scent, not unpleasant and far better than most self tanners. Clean ingredients, absorbs quickly, doesn't stain your clothes and leaves skin feeling soft and nourished instead of sticky and tight. Pricey, but worth it...drugstore self tanning products just don't measure up.
Like this product. For now , it’s my favorite. I have pale , dry, uneven skin tone and this self tanner gave me more natural and healthy look. I don’t feel dryness after applying , it’s not sticky but smooth, and not look like artificial tan. Moreover, last longer.
Absolutely love the night affair! It’s so lightweight and smells amazing! Definitely helped me ease into self tanning because it’s so easy to apply and I love that my face finally matches my body! Highly recommend and can’t wait to try the quickie!
Loveeeee this product! I love how lightweight it feels and my tan looks NATURAL! Also I have sensitive skin so I’m happy I found something that doesn’t irate my skin & it actually feels like I’m doing a skin care treatment :) love this product
